What about wedding planners?

I read here that the average bride spends 250  hours organizing her wedding – that’s equal to 6 full-time working weeks. Planning a wedding is like a full-time job! For some people it IS their job. Are you leaving your wedding planning to a professional planner or co-ordinator?

Are you:
Overwhelmed?  Stressed?
Confused?
Working full time?
Short engagement?
Way behind on your checklist and schedule?
Can’t even envision your wedding?

Then you may need to consider a wedding planner!

Oh but the expense!

A good point was made here; while you have to pay wedding planners to do the planning of your big event, which costs money, it could actually save you money because they’re experts with years (hopefully) of experience who probably work more quickly than the average bride/groom combo. They have contacts in the wedding industry that could actually save you money and it will certainly save you time.  So maybe hiring a wedding planner isn’t such a bad idea.

Certified Weddings Planners of Canada

wpicCanada even has an association of wedding co-ordinators.  Did you know?  It seems people can take courses and become “certified” to plan your big day.  They even have a code of ethics and everything. Check them out at http://www.wpic.ca/ There is even a video from CTV here that goes into some detail about the Wedding Planners Institute of Canada.

  1. We have a wedding planner for our June wedding. Less stress and they are so patient and cooperative to all our needs.

  2. I LOVE planning things and I only get to do a wedding once in my life. I am planning it myself and enjoying every minute of it!

  3. As planning continues, it seems more and more necessary to have a day-of coordinator. So I will likely be hiring one.

  4. Id love to have a wedding planner, sadly i havnt been all out wedding planning but i do have the main things complete :)

  5. Although having a wedding planner can save time and reduce stress, I do like planning the big day on my own. It’s a lot of work but so much fun!

  6. I have really enjoyed planning my wedding so far. We are getting married in May at the Atlantica Hotel in Halifax Nova Scotia.

As much as I have loved the planning there are so many things to have to remember on your own. The wonderful Wedding Coordinator at the Atlantica has helped me tremendously throughout my journey to the altar! She seems to remember every detail and it has been great having her as part of the planning.

If you can’t afford a wedding planner, make sure to choose your bridesmaids correctly. You need someone or more than one to help you with all the many details. If you can afford a planner I say go for it! It will help take some of the stress away!

  7. I have really enjoyed my wedding planning to date. I lucked out in Victoria BC to hire Eva Jaeger from Beauty Bride. She is amazing! I don’t have to worry about anything. Florist – she has the numbers, Photographer – she has the best of the best with great value. She puts me at ease with the whole process, the cost, nothing, compared to the time she is saving me and she does her own decorations! I don’t think I would be as at peace without knowing I have her for support. I think if you have the time go with out the wedding planner, but for everything that I am getting I would never have made any other choice. Congratulations to all of the brides out there and best of luck for your future weddings.

  8. My mom, two sisters, and my dad would overwhelm a wedding planner I think LOL. Sometimes I need a break from all of their planning!! :P
