I distinctly remember the Christmas that my kids were old enough to go shopping for Christmas gifts for us, completely on their own, with their own money. Well, mostly their own money – I slipped them a $50 so I could be guaranteed a good gift…true story! Ha!
In the end, I don’t remember what they got for me that year, but I DO remember what they gave their dad that year. He is a bit tough to buy for, and so they decided that he needed a new knife. His had been lost for some time, and he used it A LOT. He was always
annoying them helping them by whipping that thing out for every little job, but now that it was missing, they realized how much they benefited from it he loved it.
That Christmas, they bought him a new Victorinox Swiss Army knife, with the simple engraving of the word “Dad” on the side. To this day, he continues to
annoy us all be able to swoop in at a moments notice to help with lots of jobs. He thoroughly enjoys being able to help them out with any task (he also has his phone/google out the moment anyone has a question he can’t answer, and that is also very annoying helpful in many situations. But that is another story).
Our knives and multi-tools are really popular gifts. And not just for men. My oldest daughter, now a young adult who has developed a bit of wanderlust, asked for many gifts last Christmas that she can use on her adventures. One of the things we gave her was the 5 in 1 Wood Handle Carabineer multi-tool (below) as a gift. On the blade it says “wander” and her initials are engraved on the other side. So, in the event someone needs a small task done while she is away from home, she too can be
annoying helpful, just like her father.
Sidenote: He actually IS helpful when he has his knife handy to do things for us – we just like to tease him about it sometimes.
Here are a few of our high quality knives that would make a great gift for the adventuring, wonderful AND helpful people on your gift list.
