by

rightgifts

With the holidays upon us, shoppers everywhere are once again agonizing over what to get their family and friends. While holiday shopping once consisted of a necktie for Dad, a comfy robe for Mom and some toys for the kids, today’s holiday shopping list is much more complicated than that.  What gifts to buy people is certainly a #FirstWorldProblem!

Each and every family or circle of friends has its own unique identity, and each member within those groups is his or her own individual. For those with a holiday shopping list on which no two people are the same, consider the following gift ideas to ensure everyone on your list enjoys a happy holiday season.

People become obsessed with keeping track of their steps-per-day, the activity, and even their sleep patterns on these little devices that can be worn 24-7.  Check out the designs and options of the most popular brand: Fit Bit.

The Wine Lover

Few hobbies taste as good as developing an affinity and knowledge of the wines of the world. With their masses growing, wine connoisseurs have now infiltrated families everywhere. This holiday season, you could give your wine loving family or friend a gift certificate to a “make-your-wine” place.  An LCBO gift-card is always a great option which would pair nicely with an engraved set of wine glasses!  AND a wine lovers Christmas ornament – sounds like a great wine-themed gift basket in the making!

The Foodie

Everyone is a food critic but some people are serious at-home chefs. Maybe you know one?  What do you get the chef-de-cuisine foodie gourmand?  Do they need another recipe book?  Probably not!  Don’t we all get our recipes from Pinterest now anyway?  What about some fun kitchen gadgets?!? Things that no everyone has, unique items like a spiral slicer or a micoplane.  These are not essential kitchen tools but they can make cooking even more fun for the foodie!  Get some more inspiration from Amazon here.

Customers and Clients

Of course, no holiday shopping list is complete without customers and clients. The holiday season is a time for businesses to show just how much they appreciate their customers and clients, and how much they look forward to working with them in the year ahead.

A popular option if you run your own business or have regular clients who you want to recognize during the holidays season, is gift basket.  Some local cheese shop or chocolate stores will put together gift baskets at various price-points full of goodies that you can then deliver to your clients during the holiday season.  That’s a good way to recognize their support throughout the year.  We offer a few options that can be personalized for your special clients.  Here are three top ideas:

Friends Staying Connected, No Matter the Distance

by

Wherever we are, it is our friends that make our world. Henry Drummond

If you are lucky enough to have an amazing friend in your life, you already know the value of that relationship. A good friend is priceless.

Recently, one of our online customers, Melissa, sent us an order for a lovely friendship trinket box. We asked her who the gift was for, because we were very intrigued by the engraved message she added to this box.

Distance doesn’t have to make us distant.

Melissa has a very special friend named Christine. They have been BEST friends since elementary school, and Christine was Melissa’s bridesmaid just last year. They are also known to spend some time socializing together. Melissa says of Christine, “We have shared many good memories that we still laugh about and she is always there when I need a friend.”

Now Christine is about to move to new Brunswick, and we are sure she will love it there. But that does mean these two friends will have to find ways to stay connected between their visits. Thankfully, in today’s connected world, there are LOTS of ways to do that.

But we also loved that Melissa is gifting this special friendship box as a means to stay connected offline too. Every time Christine uses her gift, she will be reminded about Melissa and her friendship.

7 Signs you May be a Bridezilla

by

Bridezilla

Bridezilla; a dubious distinction all brides probably intend to avoid!  It is believed the term “bridezilla” was coined in a Boston Globe article in June 1995. Since then, it has been widely used for an overbearing bride who is difficult.

A woman who is obsessed about every detail of the wedding might turn into a bridezilla. There are several traits that many bridezilla’s have in common. If a bride-to-be sees her own behaviors on this list, she may want to make some changes quickly or risk alienating friends and family members.  Yikes!

#1  Talking about the wedding nonstop. Getting married is exciting and stressful at the same time. It is good for brides to have enthusiasm about the big day, but speaking incessantly over every little detail, especially when the conversation often veers to complaints about vendors and other arrangements, can be off-putting to people. Remember, the world is still turning outside of a bride’s wedding realm.

#2  Extreme dieting. It’s understandable when a bride wants to look her best on her wedding day, and this can create a desire to shed a few pounds. However, if dieting becomes extreme, including dramatic calorie control, binging or purging, it can be unhealthy and dangerous. Putting appearances before well-being may constitute bridezilla behavior.

#3  Failing to spend time with a fiance. When wedding planning and meetings take precedence over spending time with your fiance, it can set a poor course for the future marriage and strain the current relationship.  Don’t forget the reason you wanted to marry this person in the first place!

#4  A “me-first” attitude. It’s unproductive for a bride-to-be to think that her family, bridemaids and others involved in the wedding will drop everything for the sake of the event. Although it is expected that a bridal party will partake in some tasks and responsibilities, they are not the property or employees of the bride. Also, diva behavior and meltdowns — where all the attention is directed toward the bride-to-be — is not fun for anyone.

#5   Going well over budget. At its core, a wedding is the union between two people who pledge to spend the rest of their lives together. While many people want to have the perfect wedding, fixating on every detail and spending excessively to achieve what is perceived as perfection is bridezilla behavior. Entering a marriage already in debt can put a strain on newlywed bliss.

#6  Fighting with friends and family. Oftentimes brides- and grooms-to-be mask apprehension about starting a new chapter in their lives by getting into disagreements with others. Brides may bicker with their moms over seating arrangements and hairstyles, but they might just be glossing over their evolving mother-child relationship. Fighting just to fight and draw attention to oneself is bridezilla behavior; beware!

#7   Expecting preferential treatment. Many bridezillas are rude to wedding vendors and think that they deserve something extra. Individuals should remember that florists, dress shops, musicians, and photographers work very hard in their lines of work and often with couples who are emotional and feeling the stress of spending large amounts of money. Adding even more animosity to the situation could result in less-than-stellar results on the big day.

Brides, are you seeing yourself anywhere in this list?  Put yourself in check before that Bridezilla title is applied to you!
